A dawn to dusk birthday shift at the Bay…

For Tory’s birthday this year, for old time’s sake, I packed up my camera and joined him for dawn patrol. This means we set our alarm for long before the sun woke up, grabbed our Hula Pie coffees at Napili … Continue reading A dawn to dusk birthday shift at the Bay…

Knights in White Satin

I spent this weekend with my best friends «one in spirit». Nothing makes me happier then taking photographs, of people I love, in places I love. I have been taking photos of these «four» in this place for a long time. It never loses its lustre… and neither do they. “KNights in white satin, never reaching the end… Just what you want to be, you will be in the end.” Thank you Tara for providing all the ‘costumes’ «your regular clothes» and rallying the dressed down nudes to dress up. Thank you Anna «so much more camera shy then your beauty lets … Continue reading Knights in White Satin

Kits Kites

“Throw your dreams in the sky like a kite, you do not know what it may bring back, a new life, a new friend, a new love, a new country.” – Anais Nin I’m back in Canada for the rest of the summer shooting weddings. Last week I was in Vancouver and took the afternoon off to bike the the sea wall with some friends.  Just passed the maritime museum we caught a glimpse of ‘multiple’ kites in the air… It wasn’t until we got closer that we realized that they all originated from the same source.  Ray Bethell holds … Continue reading Kits Kites

The is the SIGN you’ve been waiting for!

“You’ve reached New York Times #1 Bestselling author Duncan Penn. Thank you for your call. I am away from my phone at the moment. If this is urgent please contact my assistant Davito Jones.”  Davito, who also goes by David Lingwood, is also a member of the Buried Life… he is not Duncan’s assistant… but he is in the habit of leaving long voicemail messages on Duncan’s behalf and was supposedly picking me up from the airport. I flew to LA earlier this month to photograph the Buried Life for a Men’s Health article.  The last minute opportunity was made possible by … Continue reading The is the SIGN you’ve been waiting for!

Kamehameha Day Parade 2012 – Lahaina, Maui

Our favorite parade in Lahaina!  They close Front Street, dress the pretty horses up with beautiful flower leis, and All the keiki come out to watch the excitement. The parade is to honor and celebrate Kamehameha the Great, the monarch who first established the Kingdom of Hawai’i. The pa’u riders represent a royal court led by a Queen on horseback, followed by princesses representing the eight major islands of Hawai’i. Pa’u women are dressed in elegant and colorful nineteenth century riding gowns.        Continue reading Kamehameha Day Parade 2012 – Lahaina, Maui

adventures in our back yard. Olivine Pools, Maui – Hawaii

Living in Maui its easy to get spoiled. Its not that we take for granted that we live in such a beautiful place. Maui is amazing, but sometimes we get so busy editing photos, keeping up with blogs, facebook, and booking new clients, that we don’t have a chance to enjoy the beauty and adventures in our own backyard.  Its almost overwhelming, there are so many beautiful places to explore, but you find that routine sets in and you end up going to the same beaches day after day. I hadn’t been to Olivine pools in years.  I had been … Continue reading adventures in our back yard. Olivine Pools, Maui – Hawaii

We have been looking forward to Koa’s arrival since his mommy Ginger’s awesome “beer belly” maternity photo session a few months ago. We can’t wait till we can take him surfing! Continue reading Koa: Brave, bold, fearless, valiant; bravery, courage.

the whole is greater than the sum of its parts – aristotle

Seewah is the part that I knew. She is free spirited and special like no other. In the eloquent words of her maid of honor… “Seewah is hands down, the most unabashedly stoked, human being I know.” She is gracefully stunning on every level and shines unfalteringly from the inside out. Though we have floated in and out of each other’s lives over the last decade, Seewah is love at first sight and a forever friend.  The last time I saw her was four years ago and in Bali. We were staying in a villa (five minutes from where she … Continue reading the whole is greater than the sum of its parts – aristotle
