Mike and Sarah’s wedding was just right. Not too formal, not too casual, just enough tradition but with a contemporary flare. The table was set with antique china, yet the linens were all whimsically mismatched to give the finery a subtle bohemian feel. The groomsmen wore tailor-made suits with dinner jackets and dapper bow ties, yet Ashley’s blond braids gave the group a feminine finish. A gourmet vegetarian summer meal was followed by midnight fish & chips and fried Mac & Cheese served from a food truck that pulled up to the dance floor after midnight. The details of this gorgeous day and all of the little surprise elements made it perfectly fancy and fancy-free. The vibe of the day seemed a fitting metaphor to lasting love: built with all of the traditional elements but interspersed with the unexpected, happy, heartfelt, joyous, beautiful touches of true love.
The Groomsmen got ready at the Mike’s parents cottage down the road from the “Meadows”. Some of Mikey’s good friends surprised him by stopping by on a sailboat which he swam out to meet! Nothing like a swim and a sail (and some Lucky beers) to calm your nerves on your wedding day!
Sarah and the other girls finished up their hair at “Culture” salon in Ganges and headed back to the “Meadows” to drink champagne and put on their makeup and dresses! Sarah, a natural beauty, who doesn’t generally wear much makeup, opted to do her own. Despite illustrated instructions and several glasses of champagne – she handed over the cryptic drawings to one of her bridesmaids for help.
An intimate ceremony in the garden was followed by a sunset reception in the apple orchard! Teary eyed speeches, were served with an incredible gourmet vegetarian dinner, after which talented guests and groomsmen from “Hey Ocean” and “TGLTP” rocked the night away accompanied by the groom on the recorder!
